Gender Equity and Women Empowerment

Empowering Women to Lead, Learn, and Lift Others

Our Objective: Equip and empower women and foster community development in a self-sustaining manner.

Our Self Help Approach is rooted in the belief that poverty is not just a lack of income, but a denial of rights. By organizing over 1,500 women into more than 100 Self Help Groups (SHGs), we support women in reclaiming their rights, building economic independence, and strengthening community resilience. These women-led groups set their own agendas, manage savings and loans, and fund community-level education and livelihood initiatives. Through consistent, long-term engagement, we provide training in leadership, financial literacy, and sustainable livelihoods—particularly in fisheries and agriculture—empowering women to become agents of change in their own lives and communities.

We have mobilized 209 families in Manthai West and 48 families in Musali DS Divisions to participate in economic and social development. We support the SHGs to improve their accounting and documentation practices and build capacity to enhance their effectiveness and sustainability. We also conduct financial literacy training sessions and have provided technical guidance to 65 women entrepreneurs in Manthai West.
