Building Brighter Futures through Community-Led Education

Our Objective: The development of children through better quality education, addressing discrimination and improving meaningful child participation.

Through holistic, community-led education, our programs aim to improve the well-being and sustainability of rural and remote communities in Northern Sri Lanka. By partnering with Self-Help Groups (SHGs), we empower women and caregivers to lead local initiatives that enhance children’s English language, math, and digital literacy skills. Our projects strengthen spoken English and phonics skills, introduce AI and cybersecurity awareness, and equip educators with child-friendly, inclusive teaching methods. With a strong focus on sustainability, the programs are funded and led by the communities themselves — fostering ownership, pride, and long-term impact. By integrating education with psychosocial support and leadership training, we create safe, empowering learning environments that help every child thrive.

We have successfully implemented Digital English and O/L Booster programs equipping 65 teachers, principals, and educational officers with essential trainings. Smart boards and digital resources were also introduced in five schools directly benefitting 555 students and enhancing their learning experience. Workshops on non-violent approaches, marine and coastal resource sustainability, and leadership skills were also conducted in order to equip communities with essential knowledge and skills for sustainable growth.
